Background: Farid is the gifted son of a Saracen maid at the covenant and an unknown father, probably one of the grogs. He has dark skin and thick dark hair like his mother, and deep blue eyes, presumably from his father. Farid is the darling of the covenant servants, and is much doted on. As he gets a little bit older, a few odd things will happen around him (the food he carries to a magus rots on the way from the kitchen to the magus’ quarters because he was angry about something at the time, for example) but no one blames him or becomes suspicious. Eventually, Ouragan will recognize the gift in the child and take him as an apprentice.
